What about Time-Geography in the post-Covid-19 era?

Abstract: In this year, 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has imposed new challenges for most human activities. Time-geography is a theoretical approach with great potential for analysing the consequences of the new disease and other disturbances, and this article aims at identifying possible developments of interest for the approach in the post-Covid era. The article addresses challenges that emerge for time-geographic research from the perspective of massive changes in human behaviour, regarding time-space activity patterns… Show more

“…In the present paper we exploit the unfortunate pandemic for good as a unique opportunity-a natural experiment on people's mobility. While Klapka et al [34] highlighted the importance of time geographic techniques to analyze the changes in spatiotemporal behavior following the COVID-19 pandemic and the promise of mobile phone data for research, to the best of our knowledge, there are no TG studies on this issue to date.…”

“…Individuals are entering new situations and may experience social and perceptual unease and stress, which can be felt differently in specific population groups (ethnic minorities, threatened persons, economically vulnerable population, and so on). Therefore, several time-geographic concepts seem to gain new qualities, significance and meaning (Klapka et al 2020).…”

“…This will tell us about the thematic evolution of GIS and spatial analysis used in COVID‐19 studies compared with the first half of 2020. As we mentioned, during the first months of the pandemic, remarkable reviews or reflections on the usefulness of these technologies and approaches for pandemic research were published (Casti, 2020 ; Collectif, 2020 ; Dangermond, De Vito, & Pesaresi, 2020 ; Devasia, Lakshminarayanan, & Kar, 2020 ; Klapka, Ellegård, & Frantál, 2020 ; Méndez, 2020 ; Radojević, Lazić, & Cimbaljević, 2020 ; Rosenkrantz, Schuurman, Bell, & Amram, 2020 ; Wolf, 2020 ; Zúñiga, Pueyo, & Postigo, 2020 ). Our goal is to provide another valuable resource for researchers applying GIS and spatial analysis to study COVID‐19.…”
