“…This study critically analyzes the role of Twitter as a public sphere in the Indian sociocultural context, where public discussion about sexual violence has mostly been rendered invisible by cultural prohibitions. Studies on the effect of Twitter in student movements in various cultural contexts indicate that it is an effective tool for network building, mobilizing the masses, creating counternarratives, and impacting the political discourse through collective action (Bosch, 2017; Bosch & Mutsvairo, 2017; García, Chauveau, Ledezma, & Pinto, 2013; Yan, Pegoraro, & Watanabe, 2018).
