Abstract: Isw2 proteins, ubiquitous across eukaryotes, exhibit a propensity for DNA binding and exert dynamic influences on local chromosome condensation in an ATP-dependent fashion, thereby modulating the accessibility of neighboring genes to transcriptional machinery.
