Wide Beam Tapered Slot Antenna for Wide Angle Scanning Phased Array Antenna

Abstract: Abstract-Design and development of a low profile, compact, wide beam and wide band printed double layered exponentially tapered slot antenna (DTSA) with a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed meant for wide scan active phased array antenna in X-band has been presented. DTSA satisfies the requirements on the maximum reflection coefficient of Γ ≤ −10 dB for ±60 • and ±45 • scan from broadside in H-and Eplanes, respectively with a moderate gain of 4-7 dBi. Realized antenna has shown a symmetric pattern together with mod… Show more

“…However, most of the recent designs for TSAs have been carried out for ultra-broadband applications. [18][19][20] In this paper, we propose a compact dual-band TSA utilizing a Spidron fractal for radar applications in the S and X bands. The Spidron fractal TSA is fed by a simple microstrip-to-slotline transition.…”

“…On both places, a reflection of the traveling wave is likely to occur. Therefore, smoother taper in the neck minimizes the reflection there [25,26]. This can be achieved with higher value of 'a'.…”
