Widespread natural selection on metabolite levels in humans

Abstract: Natural selection acts ubiquitously on complex human traits, predominantly constraining the occurrence of extreme phenotypes (stabilizing selection). These constrains propagate to DNA sequence variants associated with traits under selection.
