Wind turbine permanent magnet synchronous generator magnetic field study

Abstract: Abstract. The paper shows a 2D finite element optimization method for a wind turbine permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) transverse geometry. Keeping the same rotor diameter the generator's magnetic flux is maximized by changing the permanent magnets and rotoric slot opening dimensions. The studies show that for certain values of these dimensions the magnetic flux (flux linkage and mutual flux) has maximum values.
