Abstract. Aiming at the high complexity and low coverage ratio of existing coverage enhancing algorithms in directional wireless sensor network, a coverage enhancing algorithm based on numerical analysis and greedy iteration is proposed. The proposed algorithm adjusts the sensor direction by way of greedy iteration, until all sensor directions reach local optimum. Meanwhile, in the process of greedy iteration, greedy iteration is used to simplify the area calculation to reach the reduction of the complexity of the proposed algorithm. The simulation demonstrates that the proposed algorithm is well convergent with high coverage rate and medium execution time.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have increased huge consideration because of their wide scope of utilizations. In these networks, the sensor hubs gather various kinds of information from the general condition. During the transmission of collected data packets, some of them will be dropped due to the collision of packets. So, collide packets are retransmitted which may lead the network to high energy consumption. As Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol has responsible for reliable communication in WSN, an enhanced MAC protocol has to be proposed for improving energy efficiency of the network. By considering this solution, Fuzzy Based Enhanced Medium Access Control protocol (Fuzzy-MAC) is proposed in this paper. Before transmission, data packets are prioritized using the Fuzzy system. Then the packets are transmitted in light of the need of the parcels. Simulation results show that the exhibition of the proposed Fuzzy-MAC beats that of existing MAC protocols as far as energy utilization, delivery ratio and throughput.

SummaryPower efficiency is one of the major attributes that has to be concentrated in wireless sensor network (WSN). Efficiency in the consumption of power is achieved by clustering, routing, and balancing the load in the network. The proposed work focuses on clustering to balance the load in the network, which in turn improves the power consumption by the sensor nodes. Clustering is one of the prominent techniques in WSN where research is still going on to improve efficiency. In the proposed work, the sensor nodes are collected together for the formation of multiple groups called as clusters. Cluster heads are selected using efficient satin bower bird optimization algorithm where the weight of the node is taken as a parameter. Among all these multiple cluster heads, the highly powered cluster heads are named as chief cluster head utilizing crow search optimization. In a multihop manner, the sensor nodes sense the collected data to the cluster heads, which in turn send the aggregated data to the chief cluster heads. All the selected chief cluster heads send the collected data to the central server node. Simulation is carried out in MATLAB R2020a and the performance of the proposed heuristic‐based clustering is compared with other clustering protocols in terms of energy efficiency, throughput, and delivery ratio, and it is verified that the proposed protocol gives better results.
