Wireless sensor network based monitoring system for precision agriculture in Uzbekistan

Abstract: The last decades the WSN technology has been adopted by more and more scientific fields for accurate and effective monitoring of climate phenomena like air pollution, destruction phenomena like landslides, etc. It has been widely used in agriculture for field monitoring. WSN is an emerging technology, which through the research in the labs and the real deployments has been proved to be a significant and valuable tool for scientists to explore another world which is behind the various environmental phenomena us… Show more

“…Network topology is another important aspect of an IoT solution. According to [ 61 ] the topology of sensor networks can be star, tree (or cluster) or mesh. The network topology impacts the distance between the sensor nodes and the destination and, consequently, the number of sensor nodes in the WSN [ 190 ].…”

“…Tree (or cluster) networks combine multiple star networks. Both [ 61 ] and [ 178 ] implement a cluster network for monitoring crops. In [ 61 ] sensor nodes collect information from a crop and send messages to a router node.…”

“…The cluster coordinator node collects data from sensor nodes for 30 min and then sends data packet to the control unit, to then return to the listening phase. Described operation requires an agreement between transmission times of different nodes for avoiding collision between the transmissions towards the same coordinator node; this is obtained by p roperly scheduling the transmission times of nodes for avoiding overlapping [23,24]. The coordinator node has the function to generate the local network to which sensor nodes have to connect and to gather data from WSN nodes within prefixed time interval, sending then them to the control unit installed in the central body of farming facility, according the flowchart modalities of Figure 5(a) [23].…”

“…Currently, most methods for assessing the quality of user service on communication networks used in the design either consider the problem in relation to one-dimensional traffic or do not take into account the influence of a finite number of load sources [11][12][13][14]. This limits methods using in solving design problems of multiservice networks, including in areas of subscriber access networks [15,16].…”
