Abstract:Background
This study was carried out to investigate the antidiabetic activity of acarbose produced by Actinoplanes specie isolated from selected soils in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats. Acarbose produced by Actinoplanes utahensis was purified consecutively with dialysis, gel filtration and high-performance liquid chromatography, the test isolate can be exploited for large scale production of acarbose.
