Abstract:Aberrant activation of Wnt/β-catenin induces renal dysfunction by initiating pro-apoptotic cascades, fibrosis, oxidative and inflammatory burden. This study tested the therapeutic effects of Wnt/β-catenin inhibitor pyrvinium against cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) in rats. Cisplatin was administered at a single dose of 5 mg/kg (i.p) and renal cisplatin accumulation and uptake in cortical slices were determined after the 5th day by atomic absorption spectroscopy. Levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
