Women of Color's Experiences With Advocacy and Activism in Organizations

Abstract

Injustices can occur inside and outside of one's work and women of color may be frequent targets of such. This chapter examines explanations for why women of color engage in activism and advocacy both inside and outside of their workplaces. Following this, the chapter then covers the biases that women of color face for engaging in advocacy and activism. Finally the chapter will end with suggestions and strategies that women of color and their allies can engage in in order to support the efficacy of advocacy and activism.
