“…This issue remains the most recent survey of the subfield with a broad selection of research articles ranging subjects from Iraqi Kurdistan to Syrian Brazil from Lisa Pollard, Stacy Fahrenthold, Dietrich Jung, Marie Juul Petersen, Damla Isik, Laura Ruiz de Elvira, Tina Zintl, and Yaniv Voller. Recent contributions to the scholarship reflect the transnational focus of IJMES’ 2014 special issue by examining heritage groups, communal associations, and mutual aid collectives from the Italian, Greek, and French diasporas in the region during the 19th and 20th centuries (Dalachanis, 2021; Kitroeff, 2019; Turiano, 2020).
