Wood-rotting basidiomycetes of Svalbard (Norway)

Abstract: Svalbard comprises several islands in the northern part of the Arctic Ocean. No larger tree species grow on the islands, but driftwood and construction timber have accumulated on the islands during the last 200 years. A thorough inventory of lignicolous basidiomycetous species was carried out on the island of Spitsbergen in 2001. The number of species found was 24.
