“…Additionally, occupational history in relation to onset of asthma in adults was not obtained. However, the twofold greater annual ORIGINAL RESEARCH incidence of asthma among women than men in this cohort is not consistent with the reported epidemiology of occupational asthma (48)(49)(50). Finally, although the CARDIA cohort may not be representative of the overall U.S. population, our findings are relevant to urban and suburban populations.…”

“…Of these, flour, isocyanates, latex, persulphate salts, aldehydes, animals, wood dust, metals, and/or enzymes are responsible for 50-90 % of reported cases [7]. However, in some European studies, a decrease of these typical etiological factors has been recorded [7][8][9]. Generally, in Europe, there is a decreasing trend in the prevalence of OA, with some exceptions in a few countries.…”

“…This decline corresponds with the introduction of legislative measures on chemical exposure [10]. However, the social and healthcare sectors have demonstrated a growing number of OA cases related to cleaning products [8,11]. Conversely, typical risky sector for OA is agriculture.…”
