Work-related psychosocial and mechanical risk factors for work disability: a 3-year follow-up study of the general working population in Norway

Abstract: The evidence of work-related mechanical and psychosocial risk factors for work disability is limited. This study provides evidence of a substantial relationship between both work-related mechanical and psychosocial factors and work disability in the general working population. Work disability prevention interventions could focus on monotonous and physically demanding jobs involving prolonged standing, neck flexion, and whole-body vibration.

“…Replicating previous findings, female gender (15)(16)(17), educational level (18), and psychological distress (19,20) were risk factors for all-cause disability retirement.
