Workflow systems for inter-organizational business processes

This paper, from the concept perspective, with empirical analysis approach, layouts the Application Model of Complete E-commerce Platform (CECP), which is an development of E-commerce and a new mode for Tangible Product (TP) transaction, as well as a new way of TP logistics in the Information Society. The paper summarily narrates CECP structure as a whole, introduces its Matrix Model and its theoretical foundation.

We propose a layered architecture for choreographies and orchestrations of web services. The proposed architecture uses the concept of process views. The distributed nature of the model and the concept of views improve the privacy of business partners but do not limit their interaction capabilities, an essential feature in B2B and inter-organisational applications. Our approach enables description of business processes in different levels of detail with a uniform modelling language and is fully distributed. several peer-reviewed research articles including book, journal articles and conference and workshop proceedings. He has served as a member of programme committee of different international conferences and workshops and reviewer of international journals.Johann Eder is a Full Professor for Information and Communication Systems at the University of Klagenfurt, Austria. Since 2005, he is the Vice President of the Austrian Science Funds (FWF), heading the Department of Natural Sciences and Technology. He successfully directed several funded research projects, e.g., in the fields of workflow management systems, temporal data warehousing, interoperability, information systems for biobanks, self-healing 94 A. Tahamtan and J. Eder web services. He co-authored one book, edited 21 books/proceedings/special issues of journals and published more than 140 peer reviewed papers. He served as the Chair and a member in numerous programme committees for international conferences and as a Referee or Editorial Board Member for international journals. He held positions at the Universities of Vienna and Klagenfurt and visiting positions at the University of Hamburg and with AT&T Research.

Interorganizational business processes aim to integrate local processes to support the seamless cooperation of organizations. Process view approaches are an adequate method balancing the communication requirements for enabling collaboration and the required privacy hiding internals of private business processes. We focus on a top-down scenario for the development of interorganizational processes, where first an abstract global process is designed. Then each step of the global process is assigned to one of the partners and a local process is generated for each partner as a view on the global process. Finally, the partners implement or adopt their processes based on their views. We present an algorithm for the fully automatic generation of views for any block-structured input process with arbitrary partner assignments, provide a method for merging the partner's views to reconstruct the global process and prove the correctness of the view generation method.
