“…Three task-based studies (Bryant, Felmingham, Kemp, et al, 2005;Felmingham, Williams, Kemp, et al, 2009;Lanius et al, 2002) found hyperactivation in the parietal cortex, and two studies found hypoactivation (Landre, Destrieux, Andersson, et al, 2012;Zhang et al, 2013), consistent with a resting state that found hyperactivation (Yin et al, 2012).…”

Due to overlap between participants used in multiple studies, one study was excluded from each group, leaving the final meta-analysis of trauma-exposed controls compared to individuals with PTSD comprised of 1718 studies (521577 participants, 144145 foci) for whole-brain analyses; and 20 studies (609 participants, 93 foci) for ROI analyses.…”

“…We hypothesized that during subliminal and supraliminal processing of fearful faces and individualized trauma‐related words, PTSD participants would show altered connectivity within three ICNs as compared to healthy controls. Specifically, we predicted altered connectivity of the following (i) the insula within the SN ; (ii) prefrontal and temporal regions within the DMN ; and (iii) parietal and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex regions within the CEN . Finally, we explored the contributions of PTSD symptom severity, including depersonalization/derealization symptoms that form the basis of the newly defined PTSD dissociative subtype to the connectivity of these networks.…”
