Abstract:Crystalline silicon continues to be the dominant semiconductor material used for terrestrial photovoltaics. This paper discusses the scientific issues associated with silicon photovoltaics processing and cell design that may yield cell and module performance improvements, both evolutionary and revolutionary in nature.
