Workshop problem-solving for improved student engagement and increased learning in Engineering Control

Abstract: Study of Engineering Control is often perceived by students as highly complex and a difficult hurdle to pass. The authors of this paper were prompted to propose changes to the teaching of a final year control unit of a BEng (Hons) Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering after numerous students had expressed concern about their ability to be successful in this subject. The average exam grade had also been low for several years. Teaching previously had been didactic in nature, based on lectures, predefin… Show more

“…Managers with strong democratic awareness hold a small seminar at the top, or communicate in the form of a meeting. 18,19 The interaction between university administrators and teachers and students is not limited by time and space. There are at least four advantages: first, to collect the wisdom of the masses that are instrumental to the development of the school and the advance of various businesses; second, to convey the development strategy and ideas of the school, and to form a synergy; It is to draw closer to the dry group distance and resolve various contradictions in the bud.…”

“…The difficulty of the control problem depends on certain factors including the physical complexity of the system, its time dynamics and those of the desired output trajectory, the resolution and latency of the available feedback sensors, etc. 43 We study a collection of common and relatively straightforward control techniques such as feed-forward control, Bang–Bang control, Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID) control, differential drive velocity control. 44…”

“…One of the features of this function is that it can dynamically adjust the resource usage plan according to other information changes during the construction process, such as schedule adjustment, task division adjustment, and design changes. 19,20 The dynamic query and analysis system of construction resources can dynamically calculate the budget usage of manpower, materials and mechanical resources for any progress of any node for the planned progress, the budget usage and actual consumption for the actual progress, and compare the three consumptions. When the actual consumption of a certain construction resource is greater than the actual progress budget, it indicates that the resource has excessive budget use and should be taken seriously.…”
