The role of the Turkey's automotive industry in foreign trade has increased as the Turkey's economy has opened to world markets in the last thirty years. After the global financial crisis in 2008, Turkey's automotive foreign trade increased both as a partner country and by volume. Thus, it is important to analyze Turkey's automotive foreign trade determinants. In fact, the aim of the study is to analyze the determinants of Turkey's automotive foreign trade within the framework of the panel data model. In this context, Turkey's automotive exports, imports and foreign trade were estimated in three separate equations. The analysis was applied for the top 20 countries in Turkey's automotive foreign trade in the period 2009-2017. The findings of the three equations are different from each other. Per capita GDP, population, distance and the exchange rate are the most important determinants of Turkey's automotive exports for the six different variables. However, no significant relationship has been found between custom union proxy variable and Turkey's automotive exports. For the trade model of Turkey's automotive industry, these variables are statistically significant except for per capita GDP. Production capacity variable is not statistically significant both for export and trade equations. For the determinants of the automotive import function, all of the explanatory variables-which are per capita GDP ratio, population, distance, customs union, production capacity and exchange rate-are statistically significant. However, contrary to the expectations, the variable of distance affects Turkey's automotive imports positively.

Waste management is gaining very high importance in recent years. As automotive is one of the most critical sectors worldwide, which is rapidly increasing, the management of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) gains importance day by day. Due to legislation and new regulations, actors like users, producers, and treatment facilities are being conferred new responsibilities in the ELV management process. Besides, the ELV management is of vital importance for environment conservation, circular economy and sustainable development. All of these reasons are making the ELV management such a crucial issue to study. Today, the ELV management is a well-positioned and emergent research area. However, the available review papers are focused only on a small area of the ELV management, such as reverse logistics, recovery infrastructure, disassemblability, etc. Besides, a review of state-of-the-art mathematical models for the ELV management is still missing. This paper aims to provide an extensive content analysis overview of studies on the ELV management. A total of 232 studies published in the period 2000-2019 are collected, categorized, reviewed and analyzed. A critical review of the published literature is provided. Gaps in the literature are identified to clarify and suggest future research directions. Outflow of Resources from Japan Focusing on End-of-Life Vehicles

In order to examine the risk to resource security in Japan, this paper quantifies the outflow of base metals (iron, aluminum, copper, lead, and zinc) through export of end of life vehicles (ELVs) from Japan from 1988 to 2005 using the Trade Statistics of Japan and vehicles composition data. Estimates were also made for engine related rare metals (manganese, nickel, chromium, and molybdenum) under statistical restrictions. This analysis shows that 45 of iron, 68 of aluminum, 27 of copper, 70 of lead, 25 of zinc, and 67 of rare metals in ELVs in Japan were not recycled and flowed out of the country, mostly in the form of used vehicle and parts. The destinations of these metals were mainly developing countries with rudimentary recycling technology. These results strongly indicate that many metal resources that could be utilized domestically from automobiles in Japan were instead scattered and lost overseas.
