Wrist fractures treatment with assisted arthroscopy

Abstract

WRIST FRACTURES TREATMENT WITH ASSISTED ARTHROSCOPY Joint fractures of the 4th distal radius that are displaced of 2 or more millimetres, bring to arthritis that could be evident already after 5 years from the fracture itself. For this reason we try to reduce this displacement and arthroscopy is a good way to do it. Arthroscopy helps to make a more anatomic reduction and helps to point out pathologies that, otherwise, would be unknown, such as the lesion of inter-osseous ligaments or of the TFCC ligament. Now, many works point out how fractures treated with arthroscopy have a better X-ray result, a better reduction, a stronger grip and a better motility than those cases treated with surgery and without arthroscopy. The arthroscopy gives us the chance to analyze better the type of fracture and to chose the best surgical approach and the best reduction of the fracture.
