“…However, in some studies, it was found that the irradiation treatment with a lower dose could increase the relative crystallinities of starches (Table S3, yellow). For example, the relative crystallinities of potato starch‐Kufri Jyoti (0–0.5 kGy), white rice starch (0–7 kGy), wheat flour starch (0–10 kGy), goeppertia allouia starch (1–5 kGy), potato starch (0–15 kGy), wheat starch (0–9 kGy) and chickpea starch (0–12 kGy) slightly increased after irradiation treatment (Bao et al ., 2005; Singh et al ., 2011; Bashir & Haripriya, 2016; Kong et al ., 2016; Manupriya et al ., 2020; Pinto et al ., 2021; Sudheesh et al ., 2021), which is the exact opposite of the above results that irradiation decreasing relative crystallinity. In addition, it has been proved that the dose rate of irradiation is not the key to the opposite results, In the study of Chung et al ., corn starch was irradiated at different dose rates of 0.40, 0.67 and 2 kGy h −1 to a total dose of 10 kGy, but no obvious difference of relative crystallinity was observed (Chung & Liu, 2009).…”
