Abstract:In this study, by applying relativistic full potential density functional theory with the generalized gradient approximation (GGA), GGA + U, and GGA + OP (orbital polarization) methods, we have investigated the magnetic properties of uranium monochalcogenides, UQ (Q = S, Se, and Te). The emphasis here is to calculate X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) spectra of U in UQ systems at the U M 45 , N 45 , and L 23 edges and compare the spectra as well as deduced parameters such as spin, orbital, and total mag… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
