As video data is widely used over the Internet, how to manage video efficiently is a challenging problem to many researchers. In this article, we examine various issues and techniques applicable to video databases (VDBs). In particular, we start with examining VDB low‐level features, which include feature extraction, similarity measures, and video indexing. We then study the conceptual level facilities embodied by data models and query languages.
