XYZLMS interim connection space for spectral image compression and reproduction

Abstract: To improve the spectral image representation and reproduction accuracy, an interim connection space (ICS) was proposed. Three offset functions were defined to make up the wave regions uncovered by the CIEXYZ color matching functions. The XYZLMS ICS was determined based on the CIEXYZ and defined offset functions. The spectral and colorimetric representation accuracy of the proposed ICS was compared to LabPQR and LabRGB with various spectral datasets as testing samples. The results indicated that the proposed IC… Show more

However, a high-dimensional spectral data need large storage space and computational complexity.…”

“…However, a highdimensional spectral data need large storage space and computational complexity. In addition, the raw spectral data is not suited for spectral image processing, gamut boundary description, and spectral gamut mapping in the spectral color reproduction in many applications such as textile color, art reproduction, and printers with inks [3][4][5][6]. So it is necessary to construct an interim connection space (ICS) both for spectral color representation and reproduction.…”

“…It is generally believed that at least six channels are required to accurately acquire multispectral images [9] . The XYZLMS interim connection space has been proposed to accurately represent multi-spectral images [10] . If the XYZLMS values can be accurately predicted from RGB values, then multi-spectral images can be accurately acquired from the common cameras.…”
