Yangia mangrovi sp. nov., a novel member of the Roseobacter clade isolated from mangrove soil and emended description of Yangia pacifica Dai et al. 2006

Abstract: During a study of the bacterial diversity of mangrove habitats, a novel Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped bacterium designated as SAOS 153DT was isolated. Sequence alignment and molecular phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA and core gene sequence of strain SAOS 153DT with closely related taxa revealed a sequence identity of 99.4 % and clustering with Yangia pacifica DX5-10T. The fatty acids summed feature 8 (C18:1 … Show more

“…in 2006 [15] and emended by Verma et al . in 2021 [16]. According to the information available in the List of Prokaryotes with Standing in Nomenclature website (https://lpsn.dsmz.de/genus/yangia; accessed 12 March 2023), the genus currently contains two species with validly published and correct names: Yangia pacifica (the type species) and Yangia mangrovi ; however, the status of Yangia mangrovi is doubtful, as explained below.…”

“…The 16S rRNA gene and whole-genome sequencingbased phylogenetic approaches were used to identify and classify the isolated haloalkaliphilic microbial strain. In 16S rRNA sequencing-based approach, the 16S rRNA gene amplification, purification and sequencing of the fragment was performed using universal eubacterial primers 27F and 1492R as mentioned earlier by Verma et al (2021). The resulting sequence was used as query in the NCBI standard genomic (GenBank) database, by the BLAST sequence alignment tool (https://blast.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Blast.cgi?PROGRAM= blastn-&PAGE_TYPE=BlastSearch&LINK_LOC= blasthome) for highly similar sequences (megablast).…”
