“…enterocolitica isolated from human stools greatly varies depending on the study, the country, the patients recruited, and the isolation procedures. For instance it was reported to be 0.19% (82/41,848 patients) in Finland [61], 4% (24/600 patients) in Palestine [62], 0.74% (36/4,841 patients) in the USA [63], 0.16% (6/3,784 patients) in UK [64], 0.6% (46/7,090 patients) in Crete [65], 2.46% (267/10,838 patients) in Belgium [66], 0.13% (3/2250 patients) in Canada [67], 0.42% (4/956 patients) in China [68], or 0% in Ireland (0/1,189 patients) [69] and the Netherlands (0/857 patients) [70]. In the Abidjan district, the isolation rate was 0.46% (2/427 patients), and therefore equivalent to or higher than those reported in several European countries (Finland, UK, Ireland and the Netherlands), Canada and China.…”

“…Of these, 87 relevant original articles were identified and classified under 11 thematic areas. Only nine studies (15)(16)(17)(18)(19)(20)(21)(22)(23) examined the association between water quality and health effects (Table 1). In the literature describing contaminants in the water supply in the Gaza Strip, salt was the most notable cause of decreased water quality, followed by nitrates and infectious organisms.…”
