“…A previous paper by us [2], however, has shown unequivocally that a unique normalizing factor a 0 cannot be valid for reproducing the yields of all produced nuclides. One must take into account the fact that yields of various separated residual elements lie on very similar curves (gaussian-or nearly-gaussian-shaped curves) whose maxima do decrease with increasing distance between the target and the product nuclide [13]. Therefore, some modifications must be introduced in formula (1) in order to attain distributions of yields for any Ζ and A values of the nuclides produced in proton bombardment on a given target nucleus.…”

“…Induced fission of 56 Fe was modeled by Cook and Dallacasa [90]. Independently, Widom et al [42] have proposed photo-fission of 56 Fe from X-rays produced by fast electrons in connection with the fracture experiments of Carpinteri et al Given that photo-fission to roughly equal charge and mass daughters requires GeV energy X-rays, and lacks selectivity [87], how these issues are addressed in such proposals is at issue.…”

“…There are a few papers in the literature which discuss photodisintegration specifically in the Fe isotopes; for example see [83][84][85][86]. For incident X-rays in the vicinity of the giant dipole resonance, one sees primarily protons, neutrons and alphas ejected; with much higher energy X-rays one sees a wider spread of photo-fission products [87].…”

“…The parameter Β gives the rate of decreasing of the cross section for the different isotopic distribution curves; it is related to the slope of the yield-surface ridge as introduced by HALPERN etal. [5], The parameter tf gives the width of the distribution described by equation (1) and has dimension of (number of protons) -2 . The parameter C is related to the coefficient of "average retention" of charged particles due to the Coulomb potential barrier of the target nucleus.…”
