“…Dysfunction in the formation, secretion, and excretion of bile acids may lead to the accumulation of a large amount of bile acids in the liver, which in turn leads to liver damage (Kong et al, 2013; Liu et al, 2019). It has been reported that the decrease in bile acid content in the serum and liver can be used as a prognostic indicator of cholestatic liver injury, while the increased bile acid content in the bile can reduce the liver toxicity induced by bile acid (Li et al, 2019; Wang et al, 2014, 2017, 2020).
