Abstract:Young’s modulus of alumina particles reinforced pure Al-matrix composite is characterized by different methods: the pulse-echo ultrasound method, static three point bending, resonant bending and continuous multicycle measurement by instrumented indentation. Dependency of apparent Young’s modulus on loading amplitude was observed and attributed to the local mechanical properties of both phases, especially to the development of internal damage (local plasticity and particle cracking).

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
