“…Only two articles found that IU questionnaires diverged from measures of alcohol use disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (Mcevoy & Mahoney, 2011; Rifkin & Kendall, 2020). Only the YIU-PR was found to be more connected with the IU construct than with relevant anxiety and depression symptoms (Wong & Caporino, 2023). But that different IU subscales uniquely relate to different psychological variables can also be considered evidence of discriminate validity; for example, P-IU and I-IU subscales linked to different psychopathology and personality variables (Hong & Lee, 2015).…”

“…Even in the adult literature, there are mixed results regarding how IU is measured and if it is better conceptualized as a general factor versus subfactors (McEvoy et al, 2019). With regard to children and adolescents, one measure recently developed by Wong and Caporino (2023) offers four areas of IU to consider: difficulty tolerating waiting periods (related to uncertain situations), doubting and reassurance seeking, overestimation of negative events (when faced with uncertainty), and physical/behavioral responses (avoidance/physical symptoms). While these findings may still need to be replicated, they do suggest variability in measuring IU in children and adolescents from adults and propose alternative subfactors.…”
