AimTo explore the experiences of health visits within the school health services from the perspective of adolescents with migration experiences.DesignA descriptive qualitative study.MethodsData were collected using focus groups and semi‐structured individual interviews with adolescents with migration experiences aged 13–17 years old. Analysis was conducted using reflexive thematic analysis.ResultsThe results described adolescents reading the signs in the guided interaction between them and the school nurses. Reading the signs illustrated the adolescents' continuous interpretation of the interaction with the school nurse, and their decisions on how to respond throughout the health visit. These interpretations influenced the adolescents' shifting willingness to talk about their health and how they adapted to the space of participation provided by the school nurse. The interpretation also influenced their experiences of health visits as focusing on their health without making them feel singled out.ConclusionAlthough individual considerations might be warranted in health visits with adolescents with migration experiences, the results indicate that similarities in intrapersonal communication in various encounters between adolescents and health professionals might be greater than any differences. Healthcare encounters with adolescents with migration experiences might thus need to be conducted with an awareness that adolescents read the signs in the guided interaction and that similarities in this interaction are greater than any differences.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to explore the private general practice (GP) clinics' service environment, patients' satisfaction and their impact on word of mouth (WoM) for others for future treatment in GP clinics.Design/methodology/approachData are collected from 367 respondents using a paper-based survey questionnaire. Partial least square (PLS) is used to evaluate the proposed model and hypotheses relationships.FindingsThe findings reveal that ambience and service delivery have a high significant influence on patients' emotional satisfaction (β = 0.27, t = 4.31, p = 0.00) and (β = 0.26, t = 4.81, p = 0.00), respectively, while interior décor has a positive and significant influence on satisfaction (β = 0.13, t = 1.98, p = 0.04). The results indicate that exterior design and cleanliness are not associated with satisfaction. Patients' emotional satisfaction is highly related to WoM (β = 0.55, t = 13.44, p = 0.00). The results also show that emotional satisfaction has a significant mediating effect on the relationship between clinic service environments (ambience, interior décor, service delivery) and WoM (β = 0.15, t = 3.94, p = 0.00), (β = 0.073, t = 3.94, p = 0.04), (β = 0. 0.143, t = 4.13, p = 0.00), respectively.Originality/valueThe study will provide insights regarding Malaysian health consumers' perceptions toward GP clinics' service environment, whether they remain utilitarian or have evolved to entail hedonic appreciations. The contribution to the service environment could be adopted by future health-care studies, particularly those intended to examine GP clinics and other clinic-based institutions.

Hintergrund Für Kinder und Jugendliche (sowie deren Eltern) ist es wichtig, in Entscheidungen bezüglich ihrer Behandlung eingebunden zu werden und mitzusprechen. Dennoch sind Partizipationsprozesse nicht überall in die Behandlungsabläufe in Krankenhäusern eingebaut. Über die Umsetzung von Kinderrechten bzw. Partizipation in österreichischen Krankenhäusern gab es bisher keine Daten. Fragestellung Die Studie untersucht, inwiefern Kinderrechte (insbesondere das Recht auf Partizipation) und die EACH-Charta in österreichischen Krankenhäusern bekannt sind, wie sie umgesetzt werden und was förderliche und hinderliche Faktoren dabei sind. Methoden Es wurden eine Fragebogenerhebung unter ärztlichen und pflegerischen Leitungspersonen auf Kinder- und Jugendstationen ( n = 133) sowie qualitative Interviews mit Fachexpert:innen, medizinischem Fachpersonal sowie betroffenen Eltern und einer Jugendlichen ( n = 15) durchgeführt. Ergebnisse In Krankenhäusern wird bereits Einiges getan, um die Rechte von Kindern zu wahren. Es herrscht vielerorts Bewusstsein für eine kindzentrierte Behandlung und für die Notwendigkeit, Kinder und Jugendliche während ihres Krankenhausaufenthalts partizipieren zu lassen. Dennoch zeigen die Interviews mit Eltern, dass es große Unterschiede zwischen Krankenhäusern gibt. Diskussion Es wurden 3 Bereiche für Handlungsempfehlungen identifiziert: 1. Verankerung der Kinderrechte – gesetzlich und in der Ausbildung des medizinischen Fachpersonals, 2. Stärkung der Team- und Feedbackkultur, z. B. durch mehr Personalressourcen für Teamarbeit, und 3. gute Gesundheitsinformation und gute Gesprächsqualität durch qualitätsgesicherte, verständliche, evidenzbasierte Informationen für Kinder und Jugendliche sowie durch patientenzentrierte Gesprächsführung der medizinischen Fachkräfte.
