Yu Shi An Chang Fang Ameliorates TNBS-Induced Colitis in Mice by Reducing Inflammatory Response and Protecting the Intestinal Mucosal Barrier

Abstract: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease that is related to the occurrence of colon cancer. This study aimed to investigate the underlying mechanism by which Yu Shi An Chang Fang (YST) treated UC. 2, 4, 6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS) was used to construct the UC model. The body weight, fecal viscosity, and fecal bleeding of all mice were recorded every day to calculate the DAI value. The pathological changes in colon tissues were observed by hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) staining. The lev… Show more

“…As a bowel disease characterized by inflammation, ulcerative colitis (UC) has been reported to correlate with the tumorigenesis of colon cancer [ 7 ]. The partial reversal of pyroptosis can be done by YST (Yu Shi An Chang Fang), which protects the intestinal mucosal barrier and prevents tumorigenesis [ 103 ]. GSDME-mediated pyroptosis releases HMGB1 and leads to colitis-associated colorectal cancer through the ERK1/2 pathway.…”

“…Shenling Baizhu San inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory factors IL-1β, IL-18, and TNF-a and reduces the mRNA expression levels of NLRP3, ASC, and GSDMD-N [156]. Yushi Anchang Fang can down-regulate the expressions of NLRP3, ASC, and caspase-1 to close to normal levels, thereby inhibiting pyroptosis [157]. Due to the flexible composition of TCM prescriptions, we just listed the above as some representative prescriptions studied in recent years.…”
