Abstract:The Wars of Yugoslav Succession were four major conflicts in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia‐Hercegovina, and Serbia‐Kosovo. Of these, the largest occurred in Croatia and Bosnia‐Hercegovina in the early 1990s. The wars and dissolution resulted from a number of unresolved historical issues; the rise of opportunistic, nationalist politicians; a cumbersome federal government; and a long‐term economic crisis.
