“…Bray et al (2014) also included Biospeedotrema (Bray, Waeschenbach, Dyal, Littlewood & Morand, 2014) in this subfamily, comprising three species, B. biospeedoi (Bray, Waeschenbach, Dyal, Littlewood & Morand, 2014), B. jolliveti (Bray, Waeschenbach, Dyal, Littlewood & Morand, 2014), and B. parajolliveti (Bray, Waeschenbach, Dyal, Littlewood & Morand, 2014). However, the results of phylogenetic analyses based on 28S rRNA gene, by Shedko, Sokolov, and Atopkin (2015), Sokolov and Shchenkov (2017), Sokolov, Lebedeva, Gordeev, and Khasanov (2019), and Pérez‐Ponce de León and Hernández‐Mena (2019) do not support including Biospeedotrema spp. in the family Opecoelidae.…”

“…in the family Opecoelidae. According to Sokolov, Lebedeva, et al (2019), Biospeedotrema spp. together with Zdzitowieckitrema incognitum (Sokolov, Lebedeva, Gordeev & Khasanov, 2019) form a group with unclear familial and superfamilial affiliation within the suborder Xiphidiate.…”

“…When the genus Biospeedotrema Bray, Waeschenbach, Dyal, Littlewood & Morand (2014) was erected the number of opecoelid sequences available was limited and the genus was considered, based on its basally derived position in the phylogenetic tree and the morphology of the ‘suboptimally preserved’ specimens, to belong to the opecoelid subfamily Stenakrinae. This position was questioned by Shedko et al (2015) and later studies by Sokolov et al (2019b ; 2019c) have shown that it is sister to Caudotestis dobrovolski Sokolov, Lebedev. Shchenkov & Gordeev, 2019 forming a clade which, with Zdzitowieckitrema incognitum Sokolov, Lebedeva, Gordeev & Khasanov, 2019 , may be a sister clade to the Opecoeloidea, although resolution of this relationship is poor.…”
