Zinc Chloride-Diphenylamine Reagent for Thin Layer Chromatographic Detection of Some Organophosphorus and Carbamate Insecticides

Abstract: Zinc chlorlde-diphenylamlne reagent, whose use has been reported for the detection of organochlorine insecticides by thin layer chromatography, was further studied for its ability to detect the organophosphorus insecticides phorate, phosphamldon, DDVP, and phosalone and the carbamate Insecticides carbaryl and aldicarb. These Insecticides give Intense blue-green spots with this reagent. The procedure can be applied to the detection of the insecticides in biological materials and thus has a potential use in fore… Show more

“…The extracts were subjected to thin layer chromatography (TLC) to confirm the presence of carbofuran according to the method reported by Mondoza and shield, Bevalkar et al [22][23] Quantification and kinetic analysis Sample extracts were spectrophotometrically analyzed according to the procedure reported by Appaih et al 19 The standard calibration curve, LOD, and percent recovery were determined. The environmental conditions were measured and recorded (soil pH, water pH, and pH of tomato fruits, temperature, and rainfall).…”

“…This process commonly uses reagents such as bromine-fluorescein-silver nitrate [ 26 ], palladium chloride [ 27 ], alcoholic o-toluidine or o -dianisidine with UV light exposure [ 28 ], Congo red [ 29 ], zinc chloride-diphenyl amine [ 30 , 31 ], mercuric nitrate followed by diphenyl carbazone [ 32 ], mercurous nitrate [ 33 ], and 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine [ 34 ]. Researchers have described the detection of DDVP using thin-layer chromatography [ 35 ].…”
