“…Furthermore the severity of of each lesion was scored as follows: 0 = no lesions; 1 = minimal (1–10% of the tissue section affected); 2 = mild (11–25%); 3 = moderate (26–45%) and 4 = severe (> 45%) 21 , 22 , 24 .…”

“…The measurements obtained from the experimental groups were statistically estimated via GraphPad Prism (version 5) (San Diego, California, USA) using one‑way ANOVA with Tukey’s post hoc multiple comparison tests. A P value of P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant 22 , 24 .…”

“…ZnO NPs of 60 nm showed superb antibacterial activity against E. coli , S. aureus and MRSA reflected in zones of inhibition of 22 ± 03 mm, 21 ± 02 mm and 17 ± 02 mm, respectively, which was comparable with antibacterial activity of AgNPs of 50 nm [ 313 ]. Using ZnO NPs as strong antibacterial and antibiofilm agents against MDR MRSA and their biofilm-associated disease was recommended by Abd El-Hamid et al [ 314 ] ZnO NPs were also reported to prevent MRSA-induced footpad dermatitis in broilers and can be used as dietary supplements [ 315 ]. Comparison of the properties of ZnO NPs (17.11–22.56 nm) prepared under different light regimes showed that ZnO NPs synthesized under a green light exhibited the highest free radical quenching and cation radical scavenging activities; those prepared under red, green and blue light exhibited considerable inhibition of amylase, lipase, and urease; ZnO NPs prepared under daylight showed superior total reducing potential and metal-chelating activity; and the most effective antibacterial activity against MRSA was observed with ZnO NPs fabricated under blue light [ 316 ].…”

“…There are several examples of laboratory-made mineral nanoparticles, which were tested as feed additives. They include the following types Ag (Ognik et al 2016a ; Abdelsalam et al 2019 ; Dung et al 2020 ; Kumar and Bhattacharya 2019 ; Awaad et al 2021 ), Au (Sembratowicz et al 2016 ; Hassanen et al 2020 ), Ca (Abo El-Maaty et al 2021 ), Cu (Gonzales-Eguia et al 2009 ; Miroshnikov et al 2015 ; Refaie et al 2015 ; Joshua et al 2016 ; Ognik et al 2016b ; Morsy et al 2021 ), Se (Sadeghian et al 2012 ; Joshua et al 2016 ; Gangadoo et al 2018 ; Gangadoo et al 2020 ; Sheiha et al 2020 ), and Zn (Joshua et al 2016 ; Bakhshizadeh et al 2019 ; Kociova et al 2020 ; Hidayat et al 2021 ; Mahmoud et al 2021 ; Ouyang et al 2021 ).…”

“…Pineda et al ( 2012 ) used in broiler chickens feed silver nanoparticles also produced by a non-explosive high voltage method (Polish Patent 3883399) from high purity metals and demineralized water. Mahmoud et al ( 2021 ) checked if zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles, prepared by mechanical milling of a commercial ZnO with a planetary ball mill (Othman et al 2018 ), can prevent multi-drug resistant Staphylococcus -induced footpad dermatitis in broilers. In summary, physical methods are most often used to produce copper nanoparticles that were mainly applied as feed additives for poultry.…”
