Zn-rich pyroxenes from the ore occurences in the mixed series in the upper part of the Babuna River, Macedonia

Abstract

The basic purpose of this report was the determination of very fine-grained (cca 0.02-0.05 mm) corroded Zn-rich pyroxenes relics that occur in the mineralized dolomite marbles and baryte schists.The determination was performed particularly by means of the electron microprobe analysis that established the new mineral varieties of Zn-rich aegirine-augite composition. The examined pyroxenes were confirmed as pyroxenes, and established by X-ray powder data inside of a complex polyphase mineral system consisting of Zn-rich pyroxenes, Zn-rich richterite, Zn-rich phologopite and baryte.

The association of oxygen-bearing minerals of chalcophile elements in the orogenetic zone related to the “mixed series” complex near Nežilovo, Republic of Macedonia

“…The hexagonal unit cell dimensions of our Sb-rich zincohögbomite-2N6S, calculated from these powder-diffraction data, are: a = 5.736(2), c = 36.98(2) Å and V = 1054(1) Å 3 , that is similar to the data for the structurally studied Sb-free zincohögbomite-2N6S, with the empirical formula (10). This mineral needs further investigations.…”

New Mineral Names,

“…Peatite-(Y) is orthorhombic, P222, a = 11.167(2), b = 11.164(2), c = 11.162 (2) ]O(OH) was described in the preCambrian dolomitic marbles and baryte shists of "Mixed Series" formation, near Nežilovo village, Jacupica Mountains, Macedonia. Its potential presence in metamorphic rocks of Nežilovo was mentioned based on electron probe analysis (Jančev 1997). Piemontite-(Pb) was considered as a theoretical member in the recommended nomenclature of the epidote group (Armbruster et al 2006).…”
