Zufriedenheit geriatrischer Patienten mit ihrer Schmerztherapie

Abstract: This study supports the observation that competent pain therapy is necessary and that there is room for improvement in geriatric facilities. Measuring pain intensity, posing questions pertaining to satisfaction with pain therapy, and determining whether patients desire better pain treatment are all indispensable for optimal care. Pain therapy should equally address reduction of pain intensity and management of other complaints.

These assumptions are supported by epidemiological analyses that demonstrate unrecognized and underestimated pain in children [6], musculoskeletal pain in adults [2], general pain in palliative cases [5] and geriatric pain patients [7]. To avoid insufficient pain therapy, the establishment of interdisciplinary pain therapy centers with outpatient, daycare clinic, inpatient and consulting capacities and medical personnel with anesthesiological, neurosurgical, psychological and psychiatric expertise was introduced and these have evolved to become centers of medical excellence in pain therapy.…”

Demzufolge kann bisher keine Aussage zur Therapiezufriedenheit von R ü ckenschmerzpatienten im hohen Lebensalter getroff en werden.…”
