In this article we present findingsonhow language-typological and contrastive analyses are applicableinL3-acquisition, especially in the case of L3-German after English as L2. The starting point for the considerations are approaches from language typology, contrastive linguistics and multilingualism research and their interfaces: We examine how grammar is reflected in theories of multilingualisma nd L3-acquisition and explain the relationshipb etween multilingualisma nd teaching L3-German. In addition,w ep rovide language-typological and contrastived escriptionso fs elected propertieso fi nfinitive constructions in German, English and Hungarian.
