“…Providing automated assistance during the search process is another approach to helping average users. Jansen's (2004) study indicated that though only 50% subjects preferred to use the automated assistance embedded in the system, over 80% of those subjects implemented that assistance. This indicated that to some extent the automated assistance was helpful for the users.…”

“…Retrovirus vectors are the most widely used gene transfer agents in gene therapy clinical trials (27). In this study, retrovirus-mediated antisense bcl-2 RNA was used as antisense agent, which was different from previous reports about antisense bcl-2 gene therapy using bcl-2 antisense oligonucleotides as the agents (15,16,28). We found that the virus vector can effectively mediate the antisense bcl-2 gene transfer and stable expression in MGC803 cells.…”

“…For instance, the transfer and expression of bcl-2 in Chinese hamster ovary cells that were bcl-2 negative by western blotting conferred resistance to PDT (5). Meanwhile, antisense-mediated reductions in bcl-2 protein levels were shown to sensitize malignant cells to traditional chemotherapeutic agents (15,16). In view of the special relationship among bcl-2, PDT and ROS, we hypothesized that bcl-2 might be critical for inhibiting apoptosis in cancer cells treated by PDT and that reducing the amount of endogenous bcl-2 product may allow cells much more sensitive to apoptosis to be induced by PDT.…”

“…The analysis was performed on three samples and the average values are reported in Table 5. In particular, according to the literature [23], the signal at 8.0 ppm was ascribed to 1H of the linear Fries rearrangement products, while the signal at 8.2 ppm was ascribed to the branched Fries adducts. Both integrals were compared with that of the signals between 6.7 and 7.9 ppm due to BPA (8H).…”

“…The amount of linear and branched Fries groups has been measured according to a method employing 1 H-NMR analysis, as reported in the literature [23] (Fig. 9).…”
