Abstract: It is shown that Remazol Brillant Blue R reacts with the glucose unit of cellulose mainly at the C‐2 position. Some reaction also occurs at C‐1 and C‐4 of the reducing and non reducing end groups respectively.

Einleitung. -In einer vorlaufigen Mitteilung haben wir einen Beweis fur die kovalente chemische T3indung zwischen Reaktivfarbstoff und Cellulose veroffentlicht l ) . E r beruhte darauf, dass Cellulose, welche mit einem Vinylsulfon-Reaktivfarbstoff vom Typ der Remazole (Remazolbrillantblau R, I) 5) gefarbt war, mikrobiologisch zu wasserloslichen gefarbten Verbindungen abgebaut werden konnte ; aus dem Hauptprodukt liess sich durch Hydrolyse mit 1 N Schwefelsaure Glucose abspalt en.
