η mesons in nuclear matter

Abstract: The η-nucleon (ηN) interactions are deduced from the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory up to the next-to-leading-order terms. Combining the relativistic mean-field theory for nucleon system, we have studied the in-medium properties of η-meson. We find that all the elastic scattering ηN interactions come from the next-to-leading-order terms. The ηN sigma term is found to be about 280±130 MeV. The off-shell terms are also important to the in-medium properties of η-meson. On application of the latest determ… Show more

“…E-mail: stszf@mail.sysu.edu.cn On the other hand, we have applied a linearly varying external field [9][10][11] and temperature [12] to study scaling in classical first-order phase transitions [9,12], classical continuous phase transitions [10,11,13], and recently quantum phase transitions [14,15] following similar studies using internal frictions [16]. Renormalization-group theories both for a field driving and a temperature driving have also been developed to derive the scaling with the rate of the sweeping [11]. A theory of finite-time scaling (FTS) has also been proposed and confirmed numerically [13] and crossover from FTS to FSS has been considered theoretically but not yet been tested numerically [17].…”

“…Additionally, we include the medium modified mass of the η meson, calculated using heavy-baryon chiral perturbation theory combined with relativistic mean-field theory [51]. In [51] authors studied the in-medium mass of the η mesons in symmetric nuclear matter at zero temperature including next to leading order term. Following this work, we used − 75 and − 120 MeV as values of the mass shift for η mesons at ρ 0 and 4ρ 0 , respectively.…”
