Abstract: we outline the specific cultural conditions and the associated policies prevailing in the region before turning to an analysis of micro interactions between teachers, children and community. The purpose of this study is to identify a range of both 'good practice' and constraints that may arise during the implementation of intercultural teaching aiming at empowering a diverse student population.
