The objective of the conducted investigations was an estimation of the Kalmyk servicing bulls gene pool by genes of meat productivity – calpain, thyroglobulin, and somatotropin (CAPN1, TG, GH) – in the breeding farms of the Republic of Kalmykia. 10 servicing bulls were chosen via animals’ selection from five breeding farms engaged in the straight breeding of Kalmyk cattle. Use of the genetic marking in beef cattle breeding allows to control the genetic situation in herds and to predict animals’ productivity at an early age, and often in advance, in connection with which the article presents an assessment of breeding value of servicing bulls on key genes of meat productivity, regulating marbleness and tenderness of meat. On CC genotype of CAPN1 gene the highest index of body weight in servicing bulls of the Peasant Farm Enterprise “Budda”, low body weight in JSC “Agrofirma Uralan”, the difference is equal to 8,17 kg (P≤0,05). The highest body weight with TT genotype in servicing bulls of NJSC “Kirovsky”, the lowest one of JSC “Agrofirma Uralan”, the difference is equal to 12.4 kg (P≤0.05). The highest body weight of VV genotype of GH gene is in servicing bulls of the Peasant Farm Enterprise “Budda”, the animals weigh the least in the Agricultural Production Cooperative “Khoshud”, the difference is equal to 7.5 kg (P≤0.05).

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
