“…The intensities of the electron-capture branches were determined from the intensity balances of the transitions populating and depopulating each(of the 13l~s levels. The multipolarities were taken from Horen et al 4) and were used to determine the conversion coefficient~ -where no definitive multi polarity assignments were reported by them, we used their relative electron intensities and our relative y-ray intensities to determine the conversion coefficients. The sum of the relative electr6~ intensities of the K + L 1 + L2 + L3 shells (2) associated with the 123-keV y ray were normalized to a 95% E2 + 5% Ml multipolarity.…”

“…The Pr(OH) 3 was washed with H 2 0 and converted to• the nitrate by thrice heating to near dryness with concentrated HN0 3 . The Pr salts were dissolved in a 10 ~ HN0 3 -0.l ~ NaBr0 3 solution and the oxidized ce+ 4 was extracted into 0.3 M di-2-ethylhex~ylphosphoric acid (HDEHP) in heptane. Cerium was further purified by twice washing the HDEHP with 10M HN0 3 -0.l M NaBr0 3 , back extracting with 6 M HN0 3 containing sever~l arops of 30% H 2 0 2 and scrubbing the strTp solution with heptane.…”
