A new species of the genus Thymus L. sect. Serpyllum (Mill.) Benth. ser. Diversifolii Klokov — T. subextremus Vasjukov is described from the north of Yakutia. The species is characterized by more or less long skeletal axes, shoots with very short, inconspicuous hairs under the inflorescence (below almost glabrous), spaced glabrous leaves, and naked edges of the teeth of the upper calyx lip.
