Особливості Прокрастинації Студентів Під Час Воєнного Стану В Україні

Abstract

The article examines the peculiarities of students' procrastination during martial law in Ukraine. It is noted that in today's fast-changing and dynamic world, due to the excessively fast pace of life, increased demands of society, and information overload, students are increasingly resorting to procrastination. This problem began to escalate after the introduction of quarantine restrictions in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, and became widespread with the beginning of the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine. We propose our own definition of the concept of "procrastination". By procrastination, we understand the phenomenon that manifests itself in the habit and tendency to postpone things for later due to laziness, frustration or emotional burnout. The main factors that lead to procrastination are highlighted, namely: disorganization; lack of ability to systematize; fear: fear of success or fear of failure; perfectionism; laziness; lack of motivation; lack of control over students by teachers. Five types of procrastination are considered: daily (household) procrastinationinvolves postponing tasks that should be done regularly, such as cleaning the apartment, buying food, etc.; procrastination in decision-making (regardless of the importance of such decisions); neurotic procrastination -involves postponing vital decisions (for example, choosing a career or starting a family) compulsive procrastination -means a situation in which a person combines both behavioral procrastination (postponing any tasks) and procrastination in decision-making; academic procrastination -manifests itself in postponing academic activities, such as doing homework, writing a term paper. Three components of procrastination are characterized: emotional, cognitive and behavioral. An anonymous survey was conducted to identify the characteristics of procrastination in students during the war, and the levels of procrastination in higher education students were studied. It is concluded that the peculiarity of procrastination and its consequences, despite the factors that cause it, are manifested in students at the emotional, cognitive and behavioral levels, which negatively affects their personality and psychological wellbeing, affects the success of their educational activities and the effectiveness of their professional training.
