Abstract:This work is devoted to determining the azimuthal ion rotation velocity in a reflex discharge with a thermionic cathode. For the experimental determination of the ion velocity, a Mach probe with directional particle collection was used. The Mach probe rotation velocity measurements are compared with the drift speed in crossed ExB fields, where the radial electric field is measured with an emissive probe. The rotation of the plasma was found to be predominantly due to this drift, corrected for centrifugal effec… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
