Abstract:In this work, a study of the photoluminescence of polytetrafluoroethylene (fluoroplast-4, also known under the trade mark as Teflon) in the near infrared region of the spectrum under its excitation by ultraviolet and visible radiation was carried out. It is shown that the photoluminescence spectrum observed from the surface of the fluoroplastic upon its excitation has a distinct characteristic luminescence profile, which coincides in its position with the phosphorescence spectrum of singlet oxygen.
